One Easy Way to Update All Your Google Information

Date: September 15, 2014

A new online portal allows companies to update their information across several Google sites

Incorrect information online about your business’ location, hours and news can be detrimental to your company’s success.

Enter Google My Business, launched by Google in June. This online portal integrates a single company’s information across Search, Maps and Google+. Early users praise its simple interface, which replaces previous dashboards and provides clearer guidance for companies to edit their listings.

The portal helps you control your online presence by letting you:

  • Edit your company’s search information
  • Add and remove managers of multiple locations
  • Share news and updates
  • Receive feedback from Google+ followers
  • Respond to customer reviews and peek at reviews displayed elsewhere

Owners who use multiple Google products can now take fewer steps in updating them. Christie Carter, co-owner of Carter Vintage Guitars in Nashville, Tennessee, says the company’s YouTube (also owned by Google) channel automatically synced with its Google+ page containing pictures, posts and demos. Now when she adds a video to YouTube, both are updated simultaneously.

“People are finding us more easily,” says Carter, who saw a corresponding bump in visitors to the business’ Google+ page. “That is the biggest benefit.”

However, users should ensure their online information is up-to-date to optimize search results. Visit www.google.com/mybusiness to get started.
