NFIB's Dan Danner Issues Special Labor Day Video Message

Date: September 01, 2015

"There's not a group of Americans who work harder than small business owners."

Washington, DC (September 1, 2015) – National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) President and CEO Dan Danner today released a special Labor Day video message challenging the divisive political theme that the US economy is a winner-take-all contest between workers and their bosses.

“There’s not a group of Americans who work harder than small business owners,” Danner says in his message. “They toil and sweat beside their workers, on the same job site, in the same tough conditions, behind the same counter or in the same office. And when times are lean, theirs is the first paycheck to be cut.”

Danner’s message, which will remain on the NFIB website through the holiday weekend, asks Americans to remember that when politicians and activists call for more rules, penalties and obligations on businesses, they’re really picking sides against small business owners without whose labor millions of workers wouldn’t have jobs.

“Small businesses have been under steady assault for the past several years here in Washington and in a number of states,” said Danner. “So when the President and others take to the podium this weekend to call for more rules, regulations and taxes, we want Americans to know that they’re really aiming at small businesses and their workers.”
